Police are warning anyone trying to sell items on social media to be cautious after a man was beaten and robbed after meeting a man who agreed to buy his iPhone.

Officials say the robbery occurred on Nov. 7 when the suspect met the 24-year-old victim on President Street in Gowanus to carry out the supposed sale.

When the seller arrived, the man allegedly took the phone, punched him in the face and ran off without paying.
