A group of friends started a charity turkey bowl when they were just 5 years old and now, a dozen years later, the Greenlawn game is still being played for a great cause.

A group of kids came to Frazer Park Thursday to play football and donate to the Ronald McDonald House charity.

Johnny Gadamowitz says he came up with the idea for the event when he was 5.

"A little over 10 years ago, this is number 12, I said to my dad, 'Why don't we get some kids together and try to go down to Frazer Park and play some football?" he recounts.

Gadamowitz, who is now 16, says only 10 children showed up to play in the first year's game. Over the years the size has grown.

"All 10 of those kids are still here today, as we've continued through the 12 years," Gadamowitz says. "Every year the numbers grow and we've figured we might as well do it for a good cause."

Organizers say in the past they have done food drives, coat drives and sneaker drives.

Organizers say they pick a different charity to support each year. This year, they're donating to the Ronald McDonald House.
