A group of cadets gathered together Saturday as the Floyd Bennett Composite Squadron underwent a change of command ceremony.
Outgoing Cadet Commander Dorien Peters passed the baton to incoming Commander Ristan Jones.
Peters says he has learned a lot from his time as commander.
"It's definitely given me a lot of leadership experience because I am at the Naval Academy," Peters says. "I'm going to graduate and hopefully become a Navy pilot and this has definitely laid the groundwork."
Jones received his private pilot license at the age of 17 and says he is now ready for the new challenge of being cadet commander.
"It's a big role," Jones says. "You're in charge of all the cadets in the squadron. Increased accountability, everything falls on you."
The Floyd Bennett Composite Squadron was formed in 1998. They say they've seen a lot of growth in the past decade and look forward to more cadets joining.
