Police: Brooklyn woman shot at granddaughter’s birthday party

A 62-year-old grandmother was shot at her 1-year-old granddaughter’s Brooklyn birthday party, police say.
They say the incident happened Sunday inside a catering hall on 600 Coney Island Ave. around 7 p.m. In an earlier version of the story, News 12 reported the gun went off inside an adjacent business based on incorrect information provided by investigators.
Police say the woman thought she heard a balloon popping, but felt a sharp pain in her calf and realized she had been shot.
According to witnesses, a man at the party removed his jacket when a gun fell out and went off, striking the woman in the leg.
The 63-year-old was transported to the hospital and is expected to be OK.
Police are still looking for the man responsible for the incident.
He was last seen wearing a gray jacket and Yankees hat.
