Children living in public housing will now receive free lead testing.
The Health Department and New York Housing Authority began the initiative Monday in response to the recent investigation that found NYCHA stopped testing for lead paint in apartments back in 2012, despite federal and city testing requirements.
Nearly 3,000 children between 6 months and 8 years old are eligible for the testing.
