As Christmas quickly approaches, millions of people are taking to the skies to see their loved ones.

According to AAA, more than 6 million people across the country are opting to fly to their vacation destinations for the holidays. That is up 4 percent from last year.

Travelers are urged allow extra time for traffic on the road and foot traffic inside the airports during this busy holiday season.

Even though travel is up, AAA studies show holiday airfare is down.
