Two detectives were honored Wednesday by Borough President Eric Adams for their role in catching the suspected killers of two young Bedford-Stuyvesant mothers.
Detectives Philip Facenda and Thomas Pisano were honored alongside the officers who responded to the terror attack in Lower Manhattan and Bay Ridge entrepreneurs as Heroes of the Month for October, November and December.
"These detectives understood that even if you can't bring back the victims, you start the healing process when you bring back the culprits that are responsible for the crime," Adams says.
The suspects were arrested almost four months after Shaqwanda Staley and Chynna Battle were gunned down as they sat in a Bed-Stuy courtyard.
Police later determined the two women — both mothers of young children — were not the intended targets.
The honorees say that while they're humbled by the special distinction, at the end of the day they just did their job.
"We are the greatest detectives in the world, and these are the cases that show it," Facenda says.
