Officials: Bed-Stuy fire kills 2, injures others

Two people were confirmed dead and others were injured following a fire early Friday morning in Bedford-Stuyvesant, officials say.
The fire began inside of a brownstone on 220A Patchen Ave. around 3 a.m. Crews say it took hours to get the fire under control amid the bitter cold. The building's third and fourth floors were completely destroyed.
The flames killed 82-year-old Ernestine Moore, who lived on the third floor, and a 76-year-old man who lived on the second floor. Another resident and a firefighter suffered injuries.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The building's smoke detectors were working at the time of the fire.
