An abandoned dog is starting off the new year with a second chance at life.
Saint Vincent, a 10-year-old shepherd mix, was found in East New York on Dec. 19. He was discovered wrapped in a garbage bag with his mouth taped shut.
Veterinarians say his skin was burned from lying in his own urine. They say when he came in he couldn't walk and could barely lift his head.
Rescue teams say Saint Vincent is doing better than ever and is looking for a new home.
"He really started coming around to show some of his personality, which is nothing but sweet," says Brett Levitzke, Chief Medical Officer at VERG Brooklyn. "He is a gentle old man."
Craig Fields, of the New York Bully Crew, says they have already gotten over 100 applications. He says the dog will be fostered with him while they go through the application process to find him a permanent home.
Police are still searching for whoever is responsible for abandoning Saint Vincent.
