Homeowners in Gerritsen Beach worked Sunday to clean up their water-logged basements after an early morning water main break.

Fire crews, National Grid and the Department of Environmental Protection all responded to the incident.

Officials say at least 12 homes were affected by the break. They say the frigid temperatures outside are likely to have contributed to the burst.
