Police: 13-year-old injured in East New York shooting

EAST NEW YORK -

A 13-year-old was shot in East New York, according to officials.

The incident happened Sunday on Hegeman Avenue around 4:30 p.m. 

The teen was rushed to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.

His identity has not been released. Police did not say what happened leading up to the shooting but a preliminary investigation suggests a gun may have accidentally been fired by a family member.
