The Kings Bay Y in Sheepshead Bay treated children with special needs to a carnival Monday.
For many of the children, loud noises and busy crowds can be debilitating.
"My son Joey has some special needs like sensory issues and ADHD," says Stephanie Mizrahi. "He has trouble processing the senses around him."
But her 11-year-old son was able to take advantage of the event, which organizers say was specifically geared toward children with sensory issues and other special needs.
"Usually I come here, and I come back with a splitting headache," he says. "This time I'm having fun...I can actually be myself, and the kids understand."
