BUSHWICK -

The Los Sures Community Center in Bushwick has been selected by the city as one of five locations where people can learn more about applying for affordable housing.

The "Ready to Rent" program offers one-on-one financial counseling at no cost.

City officials say the stronger the applications, the more likely families will be able to find a home.

"People just really benefit from having more guidance about what to expect. There are a lot of different housing lotteries and there are a lot of different criteria for each of those," says Emily Osgood, of the Housing Preservation and Development Department.
