A man stole a 15-year-old girl's cellphone and demanded sex in return for the device, police say.

The incident happened on Jan. 17, inside the Marlboro Houses around 8:45 a.m.

Police say the suspect approached a 15-year-old girl inside the building in an area close to the roof.

The victim told police the suspect tried talking to her, grabbed her face and placed her in a headlock before reaching into her pockets and taking her cellphone.

According to police, the suspect exposed himself to the teen and told her he would not give her the phone back until she performed a sex act on him.

Police say the girl refused and the suspect gave her the phone back anyway.

The suspect is described as a man in his late teens to early 20s with a tattoo across his chest that reads "Family and Friends."

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS
