A restaurant inspired by Old Havana has brought some worldly tastes to the Brooklyn waterfront.
Located inside the old Empire Stores building along the East River, Sugarcane offers a variety of dishes from South East Asia, the Middle East and the Caribbean.
With an additional location in Miami, executive chef Timon Balloo says the beauty and location of the restaurant makes for a wonderful dining experience.
"There's an old coffee house in here so the decor is beautiful with tall ceilings and stone that overlook the water and bridges," Baloo says.
Sugarcane has three kitchens including a raw bar that serves oysters and other seafood dishes.
