KENSINGTON -

Parents in Kensington say they are relieved over new safety measures installed outside some local schools.

News 12 was outside P.S. 889 Thursday where there is a new traffic light and a crosswalk installed by the city's Department of Transportation.

Many parents spoke to News 12 outside the school in September saying that they didn't feel that students were safe.

"Knowing that there is now a light and crossing guards…it is really good news and we are grateful," said one parent.
