In light of heart health month, Kings County Hospital is helping employees to take care of their wellbeing.
The hospital opened an employee wellness tranquility room to offer a stress-free zone where employees can take a break from a hectic work day.
The room is reminiscent of a spa, offering massage chairs, peaceful décor and a fire place.
"Sometimes we forget that we need to take care of ourselves,” said chief medical officer Lana Vardanian. “And when you have someone who says ‘I took care of you, I thought of you and you can come here and relax,’ means a lot."
Prisca Senou has been a nurse for over six years and says it takes a toll working long hours and juggling different patients at once.
"Our goal is to take care of the patient,” said Senou. “And if we can't function, we can't take care of them."
Doctors and staff members can make appointments for a 20-minute session to decompress and rejuvenate.
