Reenactment art exhibit in Fort Greene spotlights local artists

BRIC Arts and Media in Fort Greene is showing a reenactment art exhibit spotlighting the work of several local artists.
The exhibition features six artists of color whose work includes performance, video and photography. The common thread weaving the exhibits together is "history and your place in it."
The artists are reenacting a moment in their history in hopes of re-framing their stories.
"I think by reenacting different narratives that we're asserting our stories -- personal, community, cultural," says artist Maria Hupfield. "I really look for ways to not reinforce the structural narratives and the violence that goes with that."
