Best of the Bronx: 64-year-old completes Empire State Building Run-Up

A 64-year-old athlete from the Bronx completed the Empire State Building Run-Up on Wednesday.
Completing the 86-floor, 1,572-step run had been on Gisela Perez's bucket list for years. Only 60 people are selected annually from a lottery to run the event.
In addition to the run-up, Perez has completed 28 marathons and more half-marathons than she can count.
When not training, Perez turns her attention to inspiring others to run as her role as a coach and ambassador for the nationwide running group Black Girls Run.
"Black Girls Run is about empowering women, uplifting women and supporting each other," she says. "The goal is to keep African-American women moving, healthy to prevent heart disease."
Perez says her last goal is to complete a triathlon, ideally working her way up to the Ironman challenge.
