TOMS RIVER, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities say an inmate at a New Jersey jail tried to have his attorney killed.
Ocean County prosecutors say Michael Nocera is charged with conspiracy to commit murder. The 43-year-old Beachwood man remains jailed, and it's not known if he's retained an attorney to represent him on the new charge.
Authorities say they learned last December that Nocera had been talking about having his attorney killed. They said he told someone he wanted his attorney kidnapped, driven to a wooded area and shot in the head.
Nocera allegedly provided additional instructions for disposing of the body, requesting the attorney be burned and his remains disposed of in a body of water. Nocera allegedly offered to pay $30,000 for the killing.
Prosecutors declined to identify the person Nocera spoke with, citing concerns for that person's safety.
