Family of man fatally shot collects funds to help fly his body back to Africa
The family of a 26-year-old man who was fatally shot steps away from his Crown Heights home on Friday says they are trying to collect funds for his funeral expenses and to fly his body home.
Police say Thierno Omar Barry was walking on Montgomery Street when he was shot multiple times in the face and torso around 3 a.m.
His family describes him as hard-working, and that he likely had just wrapped up his shift as a Lyft driver when he was gunned down.
Barry's family was at a mosque Sunday to pray and collect donations to help fund his funeral and to fly his body and some family members back to his home in West Africa.
News 12 was told that his wife and daughter are in West Africa and his friends and family are doing what they can to reunite him with his family.
