Brooklyn doctor returns from helping hurricane victims in Puerto Rico

A Brooklyn doctor has returned from Puerto Rico after helping those most affected by Hurricane Maria on the Vieques Island.
Dr. Kirill Alekseyev from Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center went to medical school at American University of Antigua College of Medicine says islands as small as the Vieques Island have limited doctors and need help.
That is why Dr. Alekseyev and his former classmates partnered with the JJ Marea Foundation to provide medical aid, food, water and other resources to those in need.
“It's very difficult for them to get supplies,” Dr. Alekseyev said.
Alekseyev says although the trip was a success, there is still so much more to be done. The group is planning a reunion to talk about what they can do to help.
