Police are asking for the public's help identifying the suspect in a burglary in Prospect Heights.

They say the suspect followed a delivery person into a residential building near St. Mark's Place and Vanderbilt Avenue.

Once inside, News 12 is told the burglar covered his face with a mask and gained access to one of the apartments, stealing a passport, checks and around $400 in cash.

The incident happened in the 77th precinct, where burglaries and robberies actually decreased around this time last year, according to NYPD statistics.

Photos show the suspect wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt under a black jacket.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
