EAST NEW YORK -

A boxing club came together Sunday to celebrate a milestone, but also remember an influential man.

The Starrett City Boxing Club celebrated its 40th anniversary by keeping the memory of Jimmy O'Pharrow alive, a man who helped keep the place going strong.

O'Pharrow passed away seven years ago, and to honor him, his son put an event together with music, food, boxing and more.

Many who loved O'Pharrow and learned from him in and out of the ring came out to the event to share memories.

The event is also the last that Starrett City will have in their current space before they move down the street to Brooklyn Sports Club.
