Brooklyn College seeks first championship since 1980

Brooklyn College has surprised many as they advanced to Friday's CUNYAC title game.

Brooklyn defeated Hunter in the semifinals with a roster that lost four of its five starters from a season ago.

But the team quickly meshed and captured the regular season championship. It now is one game from the program's first CUNYAC title since 1980.

"We kind of expected to win last year, so I don't think we had that same drive and motivation," says Brooklyn College head coach Alex Lang. "Nobody expected us to get as far as we did this year, so I think that's been driving us."
