Community calls for action after fatal Kensington crash

KENSINGTON -

Community members are calling for safety measures after a fatal accident in Kensington at the intersection crossing Church Avenue and Ocean Parkway.

The Brooklyn Paper reports a fatal accident happened just this past Wednesday when a box-truck driver made a turn and hit a pedestrian crossing the road.

A city Department of Transportation official says a pedestrian island was installed at the intersection and that speed is monitored by cameras along the roadway.

The DOT also says it will be working with the state Department of Transportation, which owns Ocean Parkway, to continue to make improvements.
