The city is promising quick, permanent fixes for heating problems in NYCHA complexes.
The announcement follows complaints from thousands of tenants who say they've been left in the cold.
Mayor Bill de Blasio says the housing authority has new funding for plans to speed up upgrades. They include new boilers and a repair schedule sped up by 20 months.
"We are increasing the focus on maintenance and having people available 24 hours a day, in case something happens," says NYCHA spokeswoman Deborah Goddard.
NYCHA is also using better quality temporary boilers until it installs the new permanent ones, Goddard says.
