'Community Starbucks' opens in Bed-Stuy

Posted: Updated:
BEDFORD-STUYVESANT -

A "community Starbucks" opened up Thursday in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

The Starbucks location is unique since it has partnered with the nonprofit Hope Program, which will occupy space in the shop on a regular basis. The program offers job training to members of the community.

When the training space is not used by the nonprofit, it will be opened up for meetings, events, open mics and live music.

The coffee house can be found at 774 Broadway, near the Woodhull Medical Center.
