The Edward R. Murrow High School chess team is headed to the state championship.
The Brooklyn high school chess team has won 21 city, 19 state and eight national championships over the years.
Longtime chess coach, Eliot Weiss, says the team is looking to reclaim its crown after losing the state championship last year.
"We were state champs in 2016 and in 2017," Weiss says, "We came in second place so now we want revenge."
The team participates in tournaments every weekend, and students say it's very competitive.
"I'm very confident this year that we will come up on top," Weiss says.
The 51st Annual New York State Scholastic Championships will be held Saturday at the Courtyard by Marriott in Saratoga Springs.
