#N12BK: National Puppy Day

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK -

Today is National Puppy Day! It was founded back in 2006 by animal behaviorist Colleen Paige as a way to celebrate four-legged friends.

The day encourages people to adopt a puppy from a shelter or rescue group.

There are lots of places to adopt a dog in New York City.

The ASPCA  in Manhattan or the Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition are among popular shelters where people often adopt.
