Brooklyn residents commemorated Palm Sunday by attending Mass.
Parishioners at the Christian Cultural Center tell News 12 that every Sunday is special, but when there is a religious holiday the day has more meaning.
The Canarsie church honored the day with musical praise and worship.
“It is time to rejoice in the lord,” one parishioner said.
Palm Sunday marks the start of Holy Week. The day remembers Jesus' precession into Jerusalem. He arrived to cheering crowds waving palm branches in the days before his crucifixion.
Churches throughout the borough will host special services to celebrate Easter Sunday next week.
