Pharmacy students at LIU Brooklyn listened to a special lecture Monday that taught them how to treat opioid overdoses.
Over 100 students learned how to spot opioid overdoses and how to administer Narcan to reverse an overdose's effects.
The lesson comes as New York City continues to confront the ongoing opioid epidemic.
Though many first responders also carry Narcan, it can be minutes before they arrive on the scene. Those involved with the lesson say every second matters, and the more people with knowledge on spotting overdoses, the better.
