An altercation at 340 East 184th St. left a 38-year-old man hospitalized with gunshot wounds early Thursday morning, police say.

Another man shot him once each in the head and neck and three more times in the torso in a fifth-floor apartment around 6:30 a.m., according to investigators. He was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital and is expected to survive.

Police say they believe the suspect and the victim knew each other. 

They say the suspect ran away from the scene.
