Mega Millions frenzy across the borough

Posted: Updated:
BROOKLYN -

Friday night's Mega Millions Jackpot is worth more than half a billion dollars and that massive payout is drawing people from across the borough to spend a couple of dollars in the hopes of winning hundreds of millions more.

On any other Tuesday or Friday, ticket holders wait to win big, but Friday's drawing is special, with the prize surpassing $500 million. And that jackpot number is expected to rise as more people rush to get last minute tickets.

To win, ticket holders need to match the six numbers on their ticket to the six numbers that are drawn.

"The reason why today is so special is because the jackpot is extremely high," says ticket buyer Kiante Young. "And you never know. Like they say, you never know, you could win. You might not win, but you got to be in it to win it."

The big drawing will be at 11 p.m. Friday.
