Brooklyn R&B artist on the rise

An up and coming Brooklyn R&B artist who records out of his bedroom closet is on the rise.
Thomas Parker, 28, who is better known as Samoht, has been recording music out of his closet inside of his home.
His songs can be found on iTunes, SoundCloud and YouTube.
He is releasing a new album this summer.
Parker sings all around the city and recently performed at the Apollo Theater.
He says music is therapeutic for him, and he thinks it helps others too.
"It has turned into a spiritual thing. Sometimes I look out into the crowd of people crying and I may not even be feeling out like the way they are feeling it, but they're getting something else out of it that they needed," he says.
He plans to quit his full-time job in May and go on tour with Mista Roe.
His album Moon Wave is set for release in July.
