Prosecutors: Detective accused of raping teen had affair with ADA

In another twist in the case against two former NYPD detectives accused of raping a suspect in their custody, prosecutors revealed to the judge Thursday that one of the defendants was having an affair with an assistant district attorney.
"This ADA had no involvement in, or access to, the investigation or prosecution," the District Attorney's Office said in a statement. "Out of an abundance of caution, we have disclosed this information to all relevant parties."
The victim, who uses the alias Anna Chambers, was in the courtroom at the time.
"It's disgusting to be this close to these people," she said. "I don't really have words right now."
Chambers has accused Eddie Martins and Richard Hall of taking turns raping her in the back of a police van in September. She was 18 at the time. The suspects have said the encounter was consensual.
But now the affair with an assistant district attorney could complicate the case further. It's unclear if any pertinent information was compromised or improperly shared. The judge is expected to decide by June whether a special prosecutor should take control of the case.
