Investigators have recovered the rest of the remains of a dismembered woman's body in Canarsie Park.
The initial discovery was made near Seaview Avenue and East 86th Street around 6:10 p.m. Monday. Authorities at one point closed the entire park as they continued digging for clues.
Sources tell News 12 that the woman’s missing arms and legs were found in a plastic bag after exhaustive canvassing. They were near where police recovered the victim’s head and torso Monday night. News 12 spoke with a woman who said she was walking in the park when she came across the naked body, lying facedown and covered in leaves and branches.
Authorities did not immediately release many details, but the victim is believed to be a black woman.
"This park, it means…family memories and exercise and fun times," said park neighbor Jon Troise. "It just changes my mindset over it."
The area where the woman's body was found remained closed to the public Tuesday night.
