#N12BK: Janelle Monáe comes out as pansexual
Janelle Monáe is out and proud.
The Grammy-nominated singer came out as pansexual during an interview with Rolling Stone.
Monáe is featured on the cover of the May 17 issue of the magazine.
She discussed how she originally came out as bi-sexual, but after reading about pansexuality she learned she identified with it more.
"I'm open to learning more about who I am," she told Rolling Stone.
Monáe  says her original album 'The Archandroid' was about her fear of being judged.
When asked in the past about her sexual identity, Monáe would often dodge the question by replying with things like “I only date androids.”
She told Rolling Stone the truth about her sexuality has always been in her music.
The LGBTQ organization GLAAD defines pansexuality as someone who is attracted to all gender identities.
Monáe's new album, 'Dirty Computer,' comes out today.
Miley Cyrus, Angel Haze and Jazz Jennings have all self-identified as pansexual.
