People around the borough Saturday celebrated May Day, which supports workers around the world.
Organizers said the community event, held at Maria Hernandez Park in Bushwick, lifted up working-class immigrant neighborhoods.
The movement grew largely from the labor movement of the 19th century -- championing rights like fair wages and an eight-hour workday.
Organizers say while the holiday celebrates the rights of everyone earning a paycheck, there's a particular focus on low-income workers who are often not treated fairly.
