Police questioned a man in connection to the death of Brandy Odom, who was found dismembered in a park this month. But News 12 is told the man has been released due to lack of evidence.
The body of 26-year-old Odom was found dismembered in Canarsie Park back on April 9. Police say her arms and legs were found in plastic bags. Her head and torso were found in another part of the park.
According to the New York Daily News, Odom's roommate was the person in custody. He was released due to lack of evidence.
The man had been picked up at his home on 148th Road near 253rd Street in Rosedale on Saturday, which is the last place that Odom was seen alive.
Sources tell News 12 that investigators also were searching the home.
The New York Daily News also reports that police are working with video evidence that could connect the suspect to the crime.
News 12 spoke to Odom's mother, Nicole Odom, at her funeral earlier this week. She told News 12 she'll miss her daughter's smile and was leaving the case in God's hands.
"I have faith that justice will be served and if the person is out there watching me right now giving my daughter this celebration, I just want you to see how hurt the family is," says Nicole Odom.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
