A grassroots youth program in Bushwick is looking for a new permanent home after the rent in the space they use became too much to manage.
The program “Educated Little Monsters” started six years ago with the goal of impacting children through various forms of art, dance, music and theater.
Hundreds of students have participated in their program over the years.
Students spent the day Sunday helping to pack away their equipment at the Silent Barn, the community art space they’ve used for gatherings for the past five years.
Even though they are losing their current space, the group says they see it as a chance to start over.
“The building is just a building at the end of the day,” said one student. “We're the heart of the building and that will continue.”
Directors of the program say they are trying to raise $50,000 for a permanent space that they can also use as a venue.
