Thousands take part in annual Five Boro Bike Tour

Ten of thousands of bicycle riders enjoyed a traffic-free adventure during the city’s annual TD Five Boro Bike Tour on Sunday.

It marks the one day of the year that the city closes its roads and bridges to cars in what’s described as the world’s largest recreational bike ride.

No cars are were allowed to pass during the 40-mile ride through all five boroughs.

People say the ride brings people together from many different backgrounds to enjoy the unique experience.

Bike NY organizes the event, which draws about 32,000 people. The group says the event will finance free bicycle education programs in the city.
