GERRITSEN BEACH -

The second person struck by a Jeep outside an Avenue U car wash last week has died, according to a family friend.

As News 12 has reported, a car wash worker slammed into an 85-year-old woman and a 90-year-old man last Tuesday, hitting them more than once, according to witnesses and surveillance video.

Joan Tornabene died at the scene, police say.

Her husband Frank Tornabene has died of his injuries, according to the friend.

The Marine Park Funeral Home says he died on what would have been the couple's 65th wedding anniversary.

Joan Tornabene's funeral had been scheduled for tomorrow, but it has been postponed so the couple can be laid to rest together.
