Police have arrested a man who they say tried to kidnap a 3-year-old boy from a Bath Beach supermarket earlier this week.
As News 12 has reported, surveillance video taken outside the store on 86th Street shows the man quietly pushing the boy in a stroller down the sidewalk. The victim's grandmother chased after him, the man fled and the boy was unharmed.
Police have now identified the man in the video as 26-year-old Omar Dominguez. He faces charges of kidnapping, attempted kidnapping, petit larceny and acting in a manner harmful to a child.
Police say someone recognized him after the surveillance video aired on TV and called police Wednesday night.
Area residents say the incident is disturbing, and parents are advising one another not to leave their children unattended while they shop.
