A new program in Brooklyn called Upwise is focused solely on women's health.
Every month, Helen Boben meets at the program to figure out how women in the community can get the help they need.
"Women not knowing how to take care of their kids, having babies at young ages," Boben says.
Some women are out of work, fearing deportation or even suffering from high blood pressure.
The women say obesity is a major problem in the neighborhood. The organization partners with food pantries and markets around the city, making sure women have access to fresh fruit and vegetables.
"We want to reach 500 women within the next six months," says Dolores Manigault, the organization's health educator, speaking about the group’s goal when it opened on Bedford Avenue a few months ago.
