Police: Hostage negotiation shuts down Stamford street for hours

Heavy police activity left a residential street in Stamford shut down for hours.
Several police cars and an ambulance were on the scene at Dean Street late Thursday night, and some officers were in tactical gear.
According to police, an emotionally disturbed young man threatened to cause harm to himself with a knife.
Police say a family member called 911, and when police arrived they determined additional resources were needed.
They say a hostage negotiation lasted for several hours.
Police say the man eventually gave himself up, was arrested and taken to the hospital for evaluation.
It's unclear if anyone else was in the home at the time.
