Mourners packed the wake Friday for an elderly couple killed in a crash at a Gerritsen Beach car wash last week.
Joan and Frank Tornabene were married for almost 65 years.
As News 12 has reported, they got out of their car at the car wash on May 1 to inspect damage after a fender bender.
Then a 61-year-old car wash worker ran them over repeatedly with a Jeep, according to witnesses and surveillance video. He first backed into the car wash building, then jerked the vehicle forward and struck the victims. Police have not charged him.
Joan Tornabene, 85, died at the scene, and her husband, a 95-year-old retired NYPD lieutenant, succumbed to his injuries a week later.
Their funeral is scheduled for Saturday.
