After Jonathan Cano-Gomez survived a horrific motorcycle accident, he realized he wanted to become an EMT.

"I had hip injuries," he says. "I couldn't walk....I had lacerations on my arms. It was really bad."

He learned that he'd been in a serious crash.

"When they told me that I got into a motorcycle accident, I just said I want to pursue this career," he says.

Now several years later, the 31-year-old has recovered from his injuries. On Tuesday, he graduated the FDNY's EMT academy.

And at his graduation ceremony, the three EMTs who saved his life after the crash paid him a surprise visit.

"They gave me a second chance at life," he says.

Now he's looking to pay it forward.
