Community members celebrated Scandinavian culture on Saturday at this year's Viking's festival in Bay Ridge, despite the rain.
The event, sponsored by the Scandinavian East Coast Museum, featured a scavenger hunt, music, crafts and more.
For some, this festival is a special opportunity.
"I am actually a descendant from the Vikings and so it is kind of a way to reconnect with my past personally,” said one festival attendee. “I get to learn about people who are like me and I get to learn more about my past.”
This is the 18th year of the event.
The festivities continue with the annual Norwegian Day Parade on Sunday.
