Police: Large rock purposely thrown at passing vehicle in Franklin Township

Franklin Township police are investigating an incident where someone allegedly placed a lawn chair in the middle of the street and then threw a large rock at a car that slowed down to avoid it.
News 12 New Jersey spoke to the victim, who did not wish to be identified. The victim said that the incident happened late Saturday, going into Sunday. She says that she was driving with her 4-year-old daughter in the back seat on Willow Avenue near Ninth Street when the rock crashed through her window. She says that she was slowing down to avoid a lawn chair in the street. The rock just barely missed her sleeping daughter, according to the victim.
Franklin Township police say that this is not just some prank and that it was very dangerous.
“It’s something that could have not only have caused a serious motor vehicle crash, but someone could have been seriously injured,” says Franklin Township Police Lt. Philip Rizzo.
A neighbor who lives at the intersection tells News 12 that the chair came from her patio set. Police say that they believe the suspects to be teenagers.
“This is not just a simple act of tomfoolery. This is not just some childhood shenanigans,” Rizzo says. “This is a serious act.”
The victim says that she has heard of similar incidents happening in other towns, so she wants the public to be aware.
